  Jordan: February 12-16, 2023 Welcome to Jordan Overlooking the ports at the norther tip of the Gulf of Aqaba. In the foreground and to the right of the photo is Jordan. Across the water on the right side of the photo is Israel. Further down to the left across the water is Egypt. We are less than 5 miles from Israel and a 10-20 minute boat rise southwest takes one right to Egypt. All so close together. Welcome to Jordan After 11 long days of teaching and working from Mombassa, ahoy Jordan. We got off the ship by about 9:00 AM and took the bus into town. We walked around the area, got some money and then made a quick trip to a grocery store where I was able to get some local honey. I am going to have quite a collection by the time I get home. Aqaba is a city of about 200,000 at the very top of the gulf of Aqaba. I am surprised that, less than 5 miles to the west on the other side of the bay is Israel, and a few miles south of there is Egypt. I have photos that easily encompass the ...

 Mackel Journeys 2023 Romel W. Mackelprang Ahoy World. On January 2, 2023 Susan and I boarded the World Odyssey to embark on our spring 23 Semester at Sea journey. Over the next four months, we will visit a dozen countries, most of them new to us. While at sea, I will be teaching about 80 students in three classes. An exciting, yet daunting four months lie ahead.  Boarding the World Odyssey January 2, 2023      Our first night onboard Traveling to Dubai: December 27-29   Twenty-four hours ago, Sue and I left our home in Salt Lake City and embarked on a journey for which we have prepared for nearly two years. After a short layover in London, a long layover in Paris, we are finishing the third leg of our journey and will arrive in Dubai, UAE in a few hours. We will be halfway round the world and after just a few hours’ sleep the last couple of days we will have a few days to decompress before boarding the World Odyssey for the spring 2023 Semester at Sea voya...
